This painting was collaborated between Summerville D.R.E.A.M. and myself with intent to create something that felt like home. Being raised in Summerville has left me with specific imprinted memories and I tried to capture that feeling in this painting. I wanted the viewer to get lost wandering through the artwork while they notice some of the traditional landmarks like the James F. Dean Theater, Berlin G Myers, Guerin’s Pharmacy, Town Hall, Little Main Shopping Center, the train, the pond and gazebo from Azalea Park, and our trusty bell keeping us paced through the day. I purposefully left out titles on these buildings to keep the focus on the painting as a whole. This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve worked on and I hope you enjoy it as much as I.
